I'm incredibly grateful to have been a Guggenheim Fellow, a National Endowment for the Humanities Public Scholar, and a Rockefeller Foundation Bellagio Center Fellow in support of this book. I talk a little about it in this short video.

I've edited the Penguin Deluxe Classics edition of Austen's Sense and Sensibility (2019), The Cambridge Companion to Women's Writing in the Romantic Period (Cambridge UP, 2015), Jane Austen and Discourses of Feminism (Palgrave Macmillan, 1995), and co-edited Generations: Academic Feminists in Dialogue (U of Minnesota P, 1997). I'm the author or editor of nine books on literature by women, including The Making of Jane Austen (2017) a Publishers Weekly Best Summer Book (Nonfiction). It's also available in a paperback edition, with an afterword and reader's guide. Many extra illustrations for The Making of Jane Austen are archived on the book's dedicated website.
