The best way to keep up with where I'll be speaking next is through my bi-monthly author newsletter on Substack.
PUBLIC SPEAKING
I love talking about literature and history to the wider public, as well as exchanging ideas with other scholars.
In 2017, I had the terrifying pleasure of being interviewed about Jane Austen by CNN and ABC Radio. I've also had the opportunity to serve as a quoted authority for news stories on Jane Austen in the New York Times, USA Today, the Wall Street Journal, and Maclean's. Once I scored my own square on the New York Times's "Janeiac Board Game" (9 August 2013)!
I'm grateful for opportunities to lecture to amazing audiences across the globe. In recent years, I've spoken at events at the British Academy, the 92nd St Y, the National Portrait Gallery (London), the New York Public Library, and the National Library of Australia.
I once had the opportunity to try to summarize my book, The Making of Jane Austen, in five minutes at the "Humanities in Five" program at the Modern Language Association.
Further information about my public and academic speaking is on my CV. I'd welcoming being in touch about opportunities to visit an area near your home in the near future.
