I've been teaching at the college level for more than thirty years, having previously held posts at Indiana State University, the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater, Louisiana State University, and the University of Missouri, before joining the faculty at Arizona State University in 2013.
In 2016, I received the Zebulon Pearce Distinguished Teaching in the Humanities Award in College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at ASU. I regularly teach Jane Austen to undergrads and graduate students, in-person and online, including an online master's course on Studies in Jane Austen (ENG 535). I recently led small team of ASU undergraduate and graduate student researchers to produce a modern edition of a 1795/6 short story collection by Anna Maria Porter for The Juvenilia Press.
