Hi! I'm Devoney Looser, a writer and professor at Arizona State University. I also go by Stone Cold Jane Austen, especially on roller skates.

I'm thrilled to share that my new book, Wild for Austen, is a USA Today Bestselling Book and was recently featured on CBS Sunday Morning. 

Wild for Austen: A Rebellious, Subversive, and Untamed Jane (published in North America by St. Martin's Press, in the UK by Manchester University Press, and by Ultimo Press in Australia) honors and explores Austen's writings, life, and legacy, just in time for the celebration her 250th birthday on December 16. 2025. 

The 2025 Wild for Austen book tour took me to eighteen cities in four countries. Although I'll be doing less travel in 2026, there will be more Austen in the works! Before this latest Jane-tastic-ness, I wrote or edited eleven other books on the history of the novel, women's writing, and Jane Austen, including Sister Novelists (2022) and The Making of Jane Austen (2017). I also did a series of video/audio lessons, The Life and Works of Jane Austen, for The Great Courses and Audible.
